The National AAUP officially approved our chapter on March 20, 2021. We submitted our petition in February with 20 dues-paying members.
Gallaudet has had AAUP members for many years, including an AAUP Chair. In previous decades, the AAUP Chair gave a regular report during Faculty Senate meetings. However, to the best of our and the National AAUP’s research, Gallaudet faculty had not established an official chapter until now.
Our first slate of elected officers (February 2021 through August 2024), are:

Christina Yuknis as Vice-President
Jennifer Nelson as Secretary
Sulaiman Adeoye as Treasurer
