2021 Merit Increases

It’s the time of year where most of us will be filling out paperwork for Merit Increases. But, based on the last twelve years, we probably won’t get one. Based on the last twelve years, we’re also unlikely to even keep pace with inflation.

The new Gallaudet Chapter of the AAUP has been asking for merit increases. That’s been our top priority since we became an officially recognized chapter less than a year ago. We’re not letting down on this goal until we achieve reasonable pay parity with other institutions.

Two weeks ago, we sent a letter to president Cordano and other senior university administrators rebutting the faculty salary analysis, which compared our salaries to that of other minority institutions, and didn’t even account for our bilingual skills.

You can help us move forward by joining the AAUP as a dues-paying member today. The more members we have, the stronger we become as a collective bargaining unit. Our goal is to have a majority of our faculty join us as members.
