Recently, our country has been seeing university administrations attempt to restrict academic freedom and free speech. In response, the National AAUP and the ACLU have each written Open Letters defending the right to free expression as citizens of our country.
Last week, the Gallaudet Chapter of the AAUP voted to add our chapter’s name to the National AAUP’s Open Letter, which is entitled: “In Defense of the Right to Free Speech and Peaceful Protest on University Campuses.” This vote to sign passed in our chapter with almost unanimous consent.
